Snowy Sunday

This past Saturday afternoon I came out from seeing a movie with my friends and there was a good inch of snow on the ground (maybe less, but it looked like a lot). Brandon and I still went out on our date that night and had a great time. We went out to eat and got our food in no time since no one goes out here in Memphis when there is snow. Below are pictures of the kids watching the snow fall before we took them to the babysitters before our date. My handsome husband getting ready for our date. The next day, Sunday morning, we received a phone call around 7:30 or so saying that church was canceled. I don't remember a time in my life when church has been canceled. Here is what it looked outside. We took full advantage of that day and enjoyed ourselves. We played many games with our kids and read them stories.

Below is an account of some of the things we did that snowy Sunday.

Emmy decided to play bowling (actually all the kids went bowling for awhile, but I only got a picture of her). She did a great job lining the pins up based on their colors.Ben loved playing with the blocks. He does a great job of making pretty big towers for his age. Of course, his favorite part is knocking them down.Everyone played the duck game. Once again Emmy as well as Ben practiced identifying colors and sorting the ducks by their colors with daddy's help.Talking about what color is on the duck!

While Ben and Emmy were playing the duck game, Hyrum and I played the Cars Memory game. I am always amazed every time we play of how well Hyrum remembers. He does such a great job! The kids enjoyed their string cheese snack.A lovable singing dog that has been by far one of the favorite toys in this house (It was the toy that encouraged the twins to walk) was found and played with.Of course, what type of day would it be if we didn't read stories in this house or played with cars. Hyrum started playing with his cars on the couch after the twins were old enough to bug the cars on the ground. Now both him and Ben play with their cars on the couch.

Emmy packed around her Valentine from her beloved Aunt Millie.Later in the afternoon, after it warmed up a little, we bundled the kid up and took them out to play in the snow. The snow wasn't "good snow". We weren't able to pack the snow into balls for snowballs to start a snowman. The kids still had fun in the snow. Hyrum loved the fact that he was able to make footprints. He said footprints really cute. Hyrum also had a great time making a snow angel. He tried hard to make snowball to get mom and dad. Emmy and Ben spent most of their time marching around in the snow trying to figure it out. I think they enjoyed themselves. At the end of playing in the snow, they all came in and enjoyed some nice warm chile after playing in the snow. We ended the day off with inviting some friends over to play some games. It was a great day!

It sounds like you guys had a fun weekend. I think that it is crazy church was canceled because of that much snow but when you live in Rexburg, Idaho that much seems like a little skiff. The snow is almost gone here and we still have more snow than that. But it just depends on where you live. I loved the pictures of them playing in the snow. Have any of them ever seen snow before?

Craziness with Church being canceled! I recall that happening a few times growing up in PA. But that was like when there was 3 ft. of snow.

Danielle, They have seen snow before. When we have gone to Utah during Christmas time they have seen it then. Also, Hyrum was 2 when we left Utah so he played in it a few times.

I think the main reason why church is canceled is because everything turns into ice. They don't have very many (or any) machines to clear the snow off the roads.

It was crazy how much it snowed--but it was definitely a nice excuse to just be able to enjoy the day with family and not worry about anything else! :) Looks like you guys had a blast!
