Flashback Friday

I was given this suggestion back in May, but I am only now getting around to starting it. Every Friday (hopefully) I will do a post that is a flashback of something in the past that hasn't been blogged about.

Today, I am going to have the flashback be about Halloween in 2005. Hyrum was 11 months old and was the cutest little dragon for Halloween. When we went out to all our parties Hyrum was the dragon, I was the princess and Brandon was a knight. We had so much fun that year and Hyrum loved every minute.

Pumpkin Patch!

After Hyrum's soccer game we (my parents, Brandon and I) decided that it would be fun to take the kids to a pumpkin patch. We found out from some friends, at the soccer game, of a pumpkin patch that was some what close by. We picked up some lunch from the deli at Wal-mart and headed on our way.

The kids had a great time. At the pumpkin patch, they had a large barn and around the barn was a large swing set.Can you tell the tires were made into a horse? Hyrum loved riding the horse swing. Also, there were a variety of animals to look at, sheep, turkeys, donkeys. Ben and Emmy were showing off their animals sounds skills matching the same sounds the animals were making. Ben once again wanted to get as close as he could to the animals and try to touch them. Thank goodness Papa was there to keep a close watch. Emmy was quite content to have Brandon hold her while she looked at the animals.
They also had a big swimming pool filled with corn kernels and shovels, buckets and other fun toys for the kids to play with.Ben and Emily weren't so sure at first. However, after a few minutes they became very inquisitive and loved playing in the kernels. I know most of the pictures of Ben have him with his eyes are closed, but I love his excitement on his face. He had such a great time at the pumpkin patch. Hyrum also had a great time playing in the kernels.
How the kernels got there you might ask. An ingenious plan to keep the pool stocked full of kernels. They had a spot for the kids to first shuck the corn and then put the corn into a grinder(?) to take all of the kernels off. Hyrum thought that machine was so cool. As you can tell by the pictures, he took his job very seriously.
To go out to the true pumpkin patch and pick a pumpkin was six dollars a person! Crazy! We decided that the kids would be happy each picking out a small pumpkin for a buck and they were.
Below are our attempts to get a good picture of the kids with my parents and with Brandon and myself. It was such a fun day and we all had a great time.

Shockers' Soccer!

What kind of trip would my parents have if they didn't catch a Shocker soccer game. Hyrum LOVED having my parents there for his soccer game. He loved showing off his new and improved soccer skills. Also, Hyrum also had my dad there to help coach him as he played goalie for the team.I don't think I have mentioned what happens at the end of the soccer game. The parents and spectators of both teams make a huge tunnel and cheer the kids on as they run through. The tunnel is a seriously big hit.
My parents are little softies when it comes to my kids. Ben and Emmy were taken out of their stroller during the game (I usually make them stay in their stroller the whole game). Emmy spent most of her time carrying around my mom's cell phone and my keys. You can tell by the look on her face that she was quite enjoyed herself. As I have said before, all girl!
Ben was happy and content to kick around Hyrum's soccer ball. One time he did end up close to another field trying to get in on the game, but we caught up with him just in time. I think we will definitely put him in soccer when he is old enough.
