Little Reader

This past week was Brandon's Spring Break. One of the days we went out to eat as a family at a local restaurant. They had a sign up in their establishment saying, "Made from the best ingredients in the world." Hyrum has been really aware of his environmental print. Hyrum has been in a habit for about the past six months or so to identify and mention all the letters aloud that he sees in his surroundings. As a result, it was no surprise to me when he started listing of the letters that he saw in the sign. However, I was shocked that when he got to the word the he read it. It wasn't a fluke becuase when he came to the next the in the sentence he read it too. Brandon and I were so proud of him. I have been meaning to start working on him with his reading since I think it is the next step for him to take.Today, Hyrum heard Ben crying when he woke up from his nap. Hyrum got a concerned look on his face and said, "I need to go and snuggle him." It was so cute. He was so worried about Ben since he heard him crying and wanted to go and help him out.

Also today, when he made some bad choices and I got after him he said," Mom, you are taking my heart and putting it in the trash can." Who thinks of that? This is a tad different from what he used to say, "You are just breaking my heart."

Good job little reader. Sight words are way important in kindergarten. Sounds like he is ready to work on them. He will be ahead of the game if he knows those, his letters and the sounds they make. Good Job Natalie!

Kids say the darnedest things don't they? That is so cute and it does look like you have a good reader in you home.

I can't believe how big your kids are getting. Hyrum is so cute, and that's so funny what he said.
