Parades

While we were in Utah, we attended a couple of local parades. The first parade we attend was Orem City's. This was the first true parade that the kids had been to in a long time. They loved it! They were fascinated by the many different floats, the wonderful goodies and treats that were thrown to them, the fun marching bands, fire engines, dancers and other miscellaneous people in the parade. They hardly moved during the parade except to get the candy and other items thrown to them. Can you tell the fire engines and police cars were going by?Emmy loved seeing all the "princesses" she would do a timid wave to every single one of them.
The next weekend we went to the Strawberry Days parade. Before the parade, my sister, my dad, my brother and I did the 5K. It was so much fun to be able to do the race with them. I improved my time from my last 5K and came in with a time of 31:24. My dad and brother both ran the race really well and my sister kicked our trash. She did the race in the time of 22:48 and got 2nd place in her age group.

After the 5K, we took the kids to the parade. Once again they had a great time and were fascinated by the many different sights and sounds. The only down side of the parade was that it rained a little. The kids loved the candy and there were even otter pops passed out. The picture below is of Ben waving to the very cool race car that was in the parade. Both of the boys thought that the race car was AWESOME! Emmy once again was standing to wave to all the princesses.

I was happy that we were able to go to a couple parades because those are some of my fun memories that I remember from growing up. Plus, what is there not to like about free candy?

Parades are fun, but seeing kids in awe at the parade is even more fun. I can't believe how big your kids are. That's awesome that you did a 5K and so fun that your family did it with you.
