Party Time!

On November 15th we had Hyrum's big birthday party with his friends.

He had been looking forward to this day for a long time. Every day he would wake-up and ask me if it was the day for his party.
Brandon and I put a lot of work into the party and we were very pleased with how it turned out.

As you can tell by the pictures, he has a CARS theme for his birthday party. For decorations, we had streamers and balloons. On the fron door we had a sign that said, "Welcome to Radiator Springs, a Happy Place."
I also made a variety of signs that we put through out the house. Some of the signs were road signs(55 mph, route 66). I also made signs that a person would see if they went to Radiator Springs (Flo's V8 Cafe, Luigi's Casa Della Tires etc.)

To start off, when the kids arrived, we had them decorate their driver's tag.
While the kids were finishing up their tags, we played Duck, Duck, Goose, but in the form of McQueen, McQueen, Chick Hicks! The kids loved it!

Next, we divided up in to two groups since we had a amount of kids. The first group played Don't Eat the Car! Also known as Don't Eat Pete. The second group played Luigi's Tire Toss. Brandon cut a whole in a box and decorated the outside like a tire. Then the kids threw our homemade bean bags (ziplock bags with beans) in the whole. After awhile, we had the kids switch so everyone got a chance to do both activities.

In line for turn at Luigi's Tire Toss
We then played Sarge Says, also known as Simon Says.

Next, we played Red Light, Green Light. All the kids laughed and laughed as they played this.

Last and our climax activity we had the kids race in cardboard cars. We were going to do this activity outside, but it rained the day before the party. Brandon made race cars out of boxes for the kids to use. Then two at a time, the kids would get in the car boxes and Brandon would have them start their engines and then say, "On your mark, get set, go!" I think that this last activity was everyone's favorite. The kids would yell and cheer for the kids who were in the cars racing. Usually, the boys were cheering for the boys and the girls were cheering for the girls. Here, Hyrum is racing with his cute friend Delanie.Next, everyone sang Happy Birthday to Hyrum and we had cake and ice cream. Brandon spent many hours putting together the amazing car cake...too bad it turned out pink! I think Brandon did a fantastic job on the cake! The hot item was having a wheel part of the cake.

Hyrum got so many nice presents from his friends. He has loved every present! We were so grateful to have so many friends come and celebrate Hyrum's brithday!

It was such a crazy and fun day.

At the end of his party, I caught this picture of Hyrum; sneaking a few bites before nap time.
