Happy 4th of July!

To start the patriotic day off, we went to a friend of the family's house who has a large train track set up in his huge yard and numerous of his kids' yard. The kids had the time of their life. I think it took them awhile to figure out what was going on and feel comfortable about riding on the train.

Hyrum was so excited to ride the train. He sat in front of me and you could tell he was loving every minute of his ride. I was holding Ben who is in love with trains, maybe even more so then Hyrum. Ben didn't make a sound until our second lap when he told me what a train said and started pointing to the things he saw as we went around on the train. Emmy sat behind me with my dad and she didn't say anything. When the ride was over, she didn't want to get out of the train. After the train ride, we went to my grandma's house and enjoyed playing with my cousins. While we were there, we played a game called Colored Eggs (one of the games I remember growing up). One person is the fox and you send them out of the area. While the fox is gone, every one picks what color of egg they want to be. The fox then comes to the door and knocks and asks for a certain color of egg. If the fox picks your color, you have to run around in a circle and make it back to your spot before the fox tags you. The fox tries to catch as many eggs as they can. All the colored eggs waiting to be chosen

My grandma made a yummy combination of treats for everyone to enjoy outside. After our game of Colored Eggs we played kick ball and Duck, Duck, Goose.

By that time, it was nap time and the kids were more then ready for a nap.

After their nap, we had a great dinner of steak and potatoes and had ice cream at Lisa and Clayne's house for dessert.

When the firework show first started Ben and Emmy didn't know for sure how much they liked them. However, by the end of the night they loved watching the fireworks. Emmy would make her little noises and say oooo during the fireworks. Ben once again was a little bit grumpy, but for the most part he just wanted to be held and watch the fireworks. ( I took him to the doctors the next day and found out he had a sinus infection). Playing with Sean

Hyrum had sat on a little blue chair (that I used to play with when I was little) to watch the fireworks. He would pick a firework out of the box, take the firework to Chad, and then come back to his chair to sit and watch. He loved every minute. Showing off the firework he chose

All the kids really enjoyed the sparklers. It was a perfect ending to the night.

I love the train idea. What would that be like to have it in our backyard to entertain the kiddos?! BTW- I just finished my first book (Hearts in Hiding) Thank you! Loved it! On to the next ;)
