Fort Worth Stockyards

During our stay in Texas we went to the famous Fort Worth Stockyards. The stockyards' buildings and employees keep the western look alive, making you feel like you stepped into a western movie. The Fort Worth Stockyards have a variety of animals. However, they are known for their Long Horns. Those animals are amazing. We were able to see a few of them up close.Below are pictures of looking at the longhorns up-close.

They even have longhorns that you can sit on and get your picture taken. Hyrum said that he wanted to sit on the longhorn, but when he got close, he quickly changed his mind and decided that being securely attached to dad was better. They do a parade every day where they lead the longhorns down the main strip of the stockyards. It is amazing to see those massive looking longhorns being led by the cowboys.
After we watched the parade, we went to see the barn where they keep the horses and other animals. They have beautiful horses. Ben was in heaven. Horses are his favorite animals and couldn't get close enough. Emmy on the other hand preferred to keep her distance. Brandon was holding her and while she was looking the other way a baby foal came up to Emmy and nudged her with its nose. It scared Emmy to death, however afterwards she thought it was okay.
Can you tell he would rather be looking at the horses then taking a picture?

Hyrum LOVED walking around with Papa looking at everything. Papa T. grew up on a farm so I am sure Hyrum loved hearing about all the interesting facts about a farm that Papa could tell him.
After the barn, we went and had a delicious lunch at one of the establishments in the stockyards. All through out the stockyards they have different things for the kids to explore and play with. Hyrum thought it was so cool that he could be like a cowboy. Pretending he has a lasso
Even Brandon got in on the fun.
The babies fell asleep after we had only been in the car for about five minutes. Although it was really hot, it was a very fun day.

Go Horns! What can I say, I'm a little partial :)

Too bad we couldn't have been in Texas at the same time--I'm sure we'll see each other again at some point!
