The Monday before Easter, St. Patrick's Day, we dyed Easter eggs for Family Home Evening.
Hyrum was fascinated by how the small tablets could change the color of the water. Brandon would have Hyrum guess what color the tablet would turn the water before he would put it in the cup. Hyrum thought it was pretty cool how the colored water would dye the easter eggs. Grandma B. sent a fun egg dying sports pack. Below was one of Hyrum's favorite eggs.
Eventhough Hyrum is big into "do it myself" phase, Brandon convinced Hyrum to let him help him when putting the eggs in and taking them out of the dye. Hyrum loved every minute of coloring the eggs with his dad.

The Bargain
Brandon made a bargain with Hyrum in the middle of March. The bargain was that if Hyrum cleaned his room, Brandon would help Hyrum make a fort. As you might guess, Hyrum was thrilled at the prospect and eagerly and quickly cleaned his room. True to his word, Brandon helped Hyrum make a fort. Brandon even put Hyrum's bed mattress in the fort so Hyrum could sleep in his magical abode. The fort stayed up for over a week and Hyrum was in heaven! He loved playing and sleeping in his fort. He was constantly wanting the babies to come and play in the fort with him. Needless to say, Brandon made Hyrum very happy.

Spring Break
The last week of February was Brandon's Spring Break. A little weird to have Spring Break in February, but we will take it. It was so nice to have him home.
On Monday we went to the park and had so much fun! What can I say, my kids love the outdoors. The babies were walking all over the place. They loved the slides. Ben was in heaven in the swing.
Hyrum loved playing on all the different parts of the playground. He is getting to be quite the climber with a little less fear then I wish he had.
Double click on the pages to make them bigger.Later that day, we went to some friends for FHE and had a great time. They are another "first year" family. We were in charge of the lesson and dessert.
Hyrum loved playing with their kids; especially their two boys.
The weather wasn't too hot that week. We had other plans, but they fell through since the weather was so gross. However, it was lovely to be able to spend sometime with Brandon and the kids at home.

It's Official, I am a Soccer Mom
Well, it is official, I am a true soccer mom. Hyrum is on a little soccer team called the Shockers. His coach is a person in our ward and half of the team is from our ward. He had his first practice on last Thursday. At first, he was a little hesitant when he first arrived at the practice. The people he knew who were on the team weren't at the practice when he arrived. However, when the team started kicking the ball around a little bit, Hyrum decided that soccer wasn't a bad idea.
When soccer practice was over, he didn't want to leave. When he came home, he talked to my family and told them all about his soccer practice and did his soccer team's cheer (1,2,3, Go Shockers!).That night, he didn't want to take his shin guards off when he went to bed. The next day, the first thing he wanted were his shin guards and his soccer cleats back on. Not to mention, he has been packing his soccer ball around every where he goes. If anyone comes to our house, he shows them how he can run real fast and kick his cool soccer ball.
I can't wait to see what happens with the rest of the season. Don't worry, there will be many more pictures to follow and maybe a few video clips.

Jumping on the bandwagon
After reading all the many posts about how annoying comment moderation is everyone (myself included), I have decided to remove it. I guess if the spam starts to happen then I will put it back.
Below are pictures from our recent trip to the zoo when my mom was visiting. I meant to post these earlier, but forgot. We were pretty close to this hippo.

We did it!
The twins are now walking and have been for the past few weeks. They are sure proud of their new found talent. This movie was taken February 24, 2008.
Memphis Snow!
Early this morning, before the snow could have a chance to melt, we went outside and had a great time.
Hyrum went nuts in the snow. He loved every minute and didn't want to come inside. He enjoyed using his creativity in helping dad make a snowman. He loving called the snowman Lorri. He thought it was silly when mom taught him how to do a snow angel. Hyrum thought the snow tasted very yummy and most likely had a piece of snow in his hand that he was always working on. He loved throwing snowballs at mom and dad.
Ben and Emmy were curious. Emmy loved getting her gloves on. Ben seemed to enjoy eating the snow as well as playing in it. Emmy, as you can see, didn't like to eat the snow but enjoyed watching us play.

Flowers only a mother could love
The weather has been absolutely gorgeous the past few days, except for Tuesday when we got some snow (who would have thought snow in March in Memphis). Anyways, I have been taken advantage of the warm weather and taking the kids outside. The babies have loved every minute of it and hate to come inside. Hyrum is exactly the same way.
Since it is warmer in Memphis, plants and shrubs are coming back to life. In our backyard we have weeds growing similar to a dandelion, but the top is purple.
Hyrum decided to pick a few of the weeds. He brought is ragged bouquet up to me and said,"Mom, these are for you since you are a princess." After he gave me his bouquet he gave me a big hug and ran off to play.
It was so precious! He is going to make some lucky girl a good husband. He has seen all the flowers Brandon has given me and knows that it is the way to a woman's heart.

Smart Hyrum
Today, I remembered a fun internet site for toddlers who are learning their ABC's. The site is called Starfall. My friend Jill recommended the site to me about a year ago. On this site it has various activities to help children learn their ABC's.
This morning, I showed Hyrum the internet site on the computer. He loved it. He was pronouncing all of the letters and their sounds and saying words with the computer...it was so cute. Not only that, after a few quick demonstrations of how to use the mouse and how the program works, he was able to navigate the program all by himself! I was so proud of him. Normally, we don't let him even touch the computer, so I was really surprised at his skills.
As a result, while the babies' were taking their morning nap, I was able to watch Hyrum on the computer and also iron some of Brandon's shirts.
Just as a side note, I am really focusing with Hyrum right now on learning his letters, he knows the letters O, B and sometimes H and S.
Here is Hyrum pretending to use the computer(this picture was taken a couple of weeks ago)
