Fun With Millie

We had such a great time with Aunt Millie when she came to visit us. She came at the perfect time. She was able to come for Hyrum's preschool program, help me with Super Saturday and being a true sister that she is, she flew home to Utah with me and the kids. However, before we flew home to Utah we had some fun.

The kids loved waking up and watching some cartoons with Aunt Millie on the couch. They also had a great time making silly hats. They wore them constantly.
Ben and Emmy had a great time picking strawberries with Aunt Millie while Hyrum was at school. We also took Millie to one of our favorite places, the Children's Museum of Memphis and had a great time. We also had Millie come with us to a local sprinkler park.

Of course, Emmy's toes had to be painted. What kind of trip would it be if we didn't hunt for sharks?
We loved having our Aunt Millie come to visit! We love her so much!

Preschool Graduation

Hyrum had his preschool graduation from Ms. Tami's at the end of May. He was so excited for this big graduation; especially since Aunt Millie was going to be there.

He looked as if he was really nervous during the program. Which I thought was funny since he knew everyone in the room, he knew what they performed for the program since I had heard him practicing many times at home. He would go through moments of the program where he would be nervous and then act as if nothing was wrong. It was a fun program to watch all the many things the kids had learned that school year.

To start the program off they did a song to get their wiggles out.During the program, the students shared the Articles of Faith which they had memorized during the year. By the way, Hyrum's favorite article of Faith is the 2nd one. "We believe that men will be apunished for their bown sins, and not for Adam’s ctransgression. " I think he really likes saying the word transgression. He says it really cute! The picture below is of the students sharing the fourth article of faith. "We believe that the first principles and aordinances of the Gospel are: first, bFaith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, cRepentance; third, dBaptism by eimmersion for the fremission of sins; fourth, Laying on of ghands for the hgift of the Holy Ghost."
The next thing the class did was demonstrate how they know how to do Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes in English and Spanish.

Next, they shared how they know how many days are in a week and the name of each day in the week. They also shared how many months in a year and the months' names.

Then they demonstrated how they could count from one to one hundred. As well as signing their ABC while they were singing. They finished their program by signing and singing As I Have Loved you from the Primary Song Book.

Ms. Tami then went on to highlight each of the students when she gave them their certificate. Ms. Tami said that Hyrum along with his friend Lexi, had exceeded her expectations. Also, that he knows his numbers 1-30 and can tell you what the numbers are. He can also read three, four and five letter words and working on reading sentences. He knows all of the alphabet and can tell you what the vowels are. He looked a little nervous while waiting to receive his certificate. We have loved Ms. Tami and think she has been a fabulous teacher. Hyrum recently told me after he had eaten his portion of dessert (ice cream) that Ms. Tami said he could have more ice cream. It was pretty funny!Hyrum loved going to preschool! LtoR Top Boo, Kelsie, Hyrum, Aleece, Ms. Tami, Bottom Row LtoR Lexi, Haylie, Maggie, Macey, Delanie.

Brandon got Hyrum a card saying how proud we are of him for working so hard in preschool. Daddy also gave Hyrum some gummy bears and Hyrum thought that was pretty neat.Hyrum is such a smart boy and continues to amaze us with his thinking abilities, his concern for others, and his sense of humor. We are so lucky to have him in our family!

4th of July!

We started our fourth of July celebration on the 3rd. That morning we headed out to the local sprinkler park with some friends from Brandon's school and had a great time. Ben and Hyrum just dove right in and got all wet and were in heaven. Emily needed her dad to help her warm up to the water and all the people at the park. Brandon is such a great dad and spent most of the time at the sprinkler park playing with all the kids. Hyrum loved playing with the squirt gun that some of the other kids brought to share. In the evening of the third, with the same friends we got together with in the morning from Brandon's school, we had a BBQ. The food was fantastic! Scott and Julie did a great job preparing everything.

After the BBQ, we went to a local carnival. By the way, it was at the carnival where Emmy tripped over her own feet and did quite the number on her lip! She got a very fat lip and a nice owie below her nose. The carnival was also where the kids jumped in the blow up house and Hyrum climbed a rock wall. Hyrum did such a great job of climbing the huge wall and didn't show any fear. He was so pleased with himself. He had the cutest little look on his face when he reached the top and looked back at us. He had a very proud and happy look. He is so cute.
We had a scary time right before the fireworks started, but thanks to our friends and lots of prayers and the good police and firemen of Millington it all worked out. The fireworks were amazing and Hyrum and Ben were in heaven. Emmy didn't like them quite so much. One firework went up in the air and Hyrum said, "That's what I am talking about!" It was so cute.

On the fourth, we got together with some friends in our ward and had another BBQ and fireworks. Emily and Brandon are always great hosts! The kids were so excited to go to their house; especially Ben. He was so excited to go inside Boo's house. It was pretty funny.

The food was great. After the BBQ Emily and Brandon planned a fun game for the kids. The dangled cookies from their swing set and had the kids try to eat the cookies without using their hands. Emmy was a little shy standing up their with the girls, but she had been eying those cookies as soon as they came out of the package. There was no way that she would back down on a treat. The boys really went to town trying to get their cookies. They had such a great time. If you watch the video closely you can see when Ben goes for our friend Tucker's cookie since he lost track of his own.

For those of you who don't know, Brandon's favorite holiday has to be the fourth of July. He loves fireworks! He is quiet the pyro. He even made a special trip in to Arkansas to get the fireworks that he wanted. He had a wonderful time setting them off for HOURS and was disappointed when I said that it was time to go home because our kids were tired.
The boys had a great time watching the fireworks, but after an hour or so went off to play with their friends. Emmy didn't like the fireworks at all and spent most of her time with grandma or sneaking back into the house and getting more nummies. She didn't even want to do a sparkler or a pops.

It was so muggy and humid that day that we were sweating like crazy. As a result, in the pictures we are glistening.

It was a great fourth of July and had a wonderful time with all our friends and grandma.

A Wicked Evening

On Tuesday I went and saw Wicked! For Christmas, Brandon had gave me a ticket to see the musical Wicked when it came to Memphis this July. I was so excited. I have seriously been counting down the days to see the play ever since.

The play was at the Orpheum in downtown Memphis. It was so magical walking into that beautiful building. It was the perfect place for the play. Picture below was taken right before the play started. The actors and actresses were an amazing, talented group of people. The songs from Wicked that I have listened to almost every day since October were sung beautifully. My favorite song from the play would have to be Defying Gravity with As Long as Your Mine coming in at a close second.

The costumes were fantastic! They totally completed the characters and help them really come to life.

The only thing that would have made that night better would have been if Brandon saw the play with me. He only bought one ticket back in October for a great price. By the time I started looking for tickets the play had already been sold out or the ticket prices were extremely high. Picture below was me in the theater waiting for the play to start. It was such a great evening and it was fun to see truly my first high class Broadway play.
